TOXIC HOLIDAY PLANTS**

They may be pretty, but some holiday plants are poisonous-even deadly.  As little as a single leaf from any lily variety is lethal to cats.  Others to avoid:
  • Christmas tree pine needles can produce oral irritation, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, trembling and posterior weakness.
  • Holly, commonly found during the Christmas season, can cause intense vomiting, diarrhea, and depression.
  • Mistletoe, another Christmas plant, can cause significant vomiting and diarrhea, difficulty breathing, collapse, erratic behavior, hallucinations and death when ingested.
  • Poinsettias, can cause irritation to the mouth and stomach and sometimes vomiting.

TRICK OR TREAT!!!!!

With Halloween right around the corner, remember to think of your dog and the pet hazards that come along with all the Halloween candy.  Candy with chocolate or xylitol (an artificial sweetener) are toxic to dogs.  Even the candy wrappers can pose a choking hazard to your beloved pet.

Please be aware of these symptoms of chocolate poisoning and contact your vet right away if you think you dog has consumed chocolate and displays any of these symptoms.

  • Excessive urination
  • Excessive drooling
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Pupil dilation
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Hyperactivity
  • Muscle tremors and seizures
  • Coma

HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN!!!!!

WHY DOES MY DOG NEED DAILY EXERCISE??

Exercise is most often thought of as just a health issue. However, in a dog's life, exercise has significant effects on his/her behavior as well. A dog that does not get to burn off a lot of their energy is more likely to be a dog that digs holes in the yard, barks, and destroys your household items when you are away. The two most common reasons for behavior problems in dogs are boredom and lack of physical activity.
